Absynthe Minded
Absynthe Minded is the band centered around Belgian singer-songwriter Bert Ostyn. Their upcoming album, “Slightly Included” (coming out on March 19, 2027), explores themes like global warming, AI, technology, power, and the endless stream of information in which we find ourselves.
“The challenge of our time is that the world is becoming increasingly intrusiv. So where do you draw the line to ensure you don’t lose hope?” Absynthe Minded finds the answer in love, parenthood, youth, nature, music, imagination, everyday beauty, and the simple joy of being together.
At the same time, frontman Bert Ostyn manages to inject a healthy dose of self-deprecation, even poking fun at the act of songwriting itself. “The great art, as a Belgian songwriter, is not to take yourself too seriously; while also avoiding the trap of undermining everything through excessive irony.”
Absynthe Minded consists of Bert Ostyn, Jan Duthoy, Laurens Dierickx, Sergej van Bouwelen, and Laurens Smagghe.
